男人無老婆，養(yǎng)只狗也能行。片子講述一只狗和主人的伴侶生涯。這只狗最后先走一步，卻讓主人寫了一本書來紀(jì)念，兩個(gè)家伙都能由此名垂青史，也不辜負(fù)十幾年的同甘共苦。本以為這樣的作品應(yīng)該煽情至觀眾黯然淚下，結(jié)果卻是一個(gè)冷靜得讓人到處找癢癢撓兒的結(jié)局。這樣的手筆確實(shí)挺英國的。
片子里面有很多很露骨的狗的性生活，畫得不失幽默，但是這部分內(nèi)容有點(diǎn)拖沓，看著看著不知道自己到底是在看人狗伙伴關(guān)系，還是在看動(dòng)物色情片。給狗找對(duì)象成了電影的主要部分，伴隨的是主人啰嗦怪癖的性格。那個(gè)絮叨勁兒確實(shí)讓人想起常在英國公園里轉(zhuǎn)悠，穿著皺了吧唧的西裝，在寒風(fēng)里用手絹嗚嗚地擤鼻涕的英國老大爺。
片子從頭到尾有旁白講述，動(dòng)畫仿佛是插圖。說是傳統(tǒng)風(fēng)格，卻也有形式上的突破。總體感覺，動(dòng)畫設(shè)計(jì)有很多有意思的細(xì)節(jié)。畫面中有很多英國元素，紅公共汽車、黑色出租車、泰晤士河，還有那個(gè)有名的Batersea電廠....一看就是要給美國人看的片子。不過，居然出現(xiàn)明顯的史實(shí)錯(cuò)誤：那種后開口的紅色公共汽車（Routemaster)是在1956年才開始在倫敦使用的

It was Roger Ebert's highly favorable review led me to this little animation dog film, adapted by Paul Fierlinger and Sandra Fierlinger from J.R.Ackerley's 1956 memoir with the same title, voice over by Christopher Plummer, Lynn Redgrave and Isabella Rossellini. Released June 10, 2009.
